A –
indicates ANASCULPTURE
Active Anasculptural Plate- The heart of
any A: the rigid sheet pervaded by lacunae. They
are created in never exceed 8 identical
specimens per typology and size according to a
graphic pattern made by the artist, who
subsequently paints each one of them.
Ana... -
prefix meaning: missing, objection of.., default
“B(l)ackground”– The back plate of an A
having the tasks of supporting the active
anasculptural plates and providing the lacunae
with their black depth: the Black Hole
definition applies.
Black Hole –
Cosmic entity featuring the property of
preventing anything “entering” into it to get
out of it. Generalization of the common black
hole which traps the light and does not reflect
it.
Chiaro-scuro -
Classical mode of figurative painting shading to
render the third dimension. Also “grisaille”.
Cosine law [Extrapolated c. l.] –
Law establishing the intensity of light
impinging on a surface in function of the angle
between the directions of the light and that of
the surface.
[Extrapolation of the cosine law enhancing its
selectivity].
DXF –
software for transferring a graphic/analog
pattern into a digital file, used in computer
controlled operative machines such as laser
cutting machines.
Ellipse [Pseudo-ellipse] –
bounded conic section.
[transposition of an e. on a three-dimensional
surface and its projection on the representation
plane].
Flock –
Synthetic soft layer, consisting of short nylon
fibers electrostatically spread on the primed
surface of an object. In A b(l)ackgrounds are
flocked or lined with a flocked fabric due to
the excellent light absorption properties of the
black flock.
Iconology –
Objects representation principles, philosophy.
Isometrics –
representation mode of a three dimensional
object, applying when high values of the ratio:
distance of the object from the observer/sizes
of the object, are dealt with.
Laser cutting –
Sheet cutting process by digitally controlled
power lasers employed to create the active
anasulptural plates of large A and of mini-A.
Lacuna –
(Latin, pl.: lacunae) Hole, empty space,
solution on continuity. The cut-out openings of
an active anasculptural plate, having the
central task of conveying the rational
perceptive content of the mode.
Mini-anasculpture –
Small, numbered and signed, A featuring a laser
cut, conventionally printed paper active
anasculptural plate. The only member of the A
family which is a multiple.
Monochrome –
Single color shading mode of rendering of the
third dimension. Cfr.: chiaro-scuro
Opus # (Op. #) -
Ensemble of art works having similar character (thematic,
problematic, technique) and/or having been
created during a certain period.
Paraphrase –
Interpretation of an existing art work in
different terms.
Perspective -
Representation mode of a three dimensional
object, applying when low values of the ratio:
distance of the object from the observer/sizes
of the object, are dealt with.
Photo-etching –
Photo-chemical, analog etching process allowing
the cutting of thin metal sheets starting from a
graphic pattern. Employed to create the active
anasculptural plates out of copper sheets.
Pseudo-circle –
Transposition of a circle from the plane to a
three dimensional surface.
Topological Configurations –
Topological typologies enhancing the plastic
capabilities of A.
Typology –
Particular shape of an active anasculptural
plate, independent upon its size.
